Brene Brown, the author of Daring Greatly and The Gifts of Imperfections, is truly one of the most inspiring human beings. Through her writing, she teaches the importance of owning who you are and showing up each day, in every moment, no matter how frightening somethings may be. She reminds us in Daring Greatly that without vulnerability or “putting ourselves out there,” we miss out on some of the best opportunities in life. We protect ourselves by staying in our comfort zone in order to avoid the possibility of failure, rejection, judgement or the unknown.
These are seriously two of the best books I’ve ever read and I highly recommended them as they have changed my life drastically. As corny as this sounds, I really was not living the life I was meant to live before these books. Brene Brown opened up my eyes to the fact that I was protecting myself by staying in my safe, predictable world.
I don’t think I realized how much I was holding myself back in life with the fear of “What if it doesn’t work out? What if I make a mistake or a wrong decision?” It’s easyyyy being comfortable; having predictable outcomes for every situation, whether it be social life, work, goals etc. However, it is exciting, fulfilling and more than you ever could have expected for yourself when you own who you are and “dare greatly.” Get comfortable being uncomfortable and just see what happens!
Oh yeah, and read these two books.
